More Pool Pictures

Putting in a Pool

Pretty incredible to see this monster pool up on a crane being lifted over the tallest trees and even your house to get to a hole in the backyard!  I have uploaded the video of this wild feat.  We are pretty excited that the pool is getting installed this week.  We had originally been told it would be mid-July when we signed the deal back in April!  We got a call last Friday that they wanted to start Monday, so we were running around trying to get everything in place, when we thought we had another month.  Couldn't be happier and things are progressing smoothly.  By this time next week we will be swimming and enjoying the long, hot Texas summer!  Come for a visit and join us!

Fun with Friends and Water Table

You are silly, Taelyn!

Yummy Gummies
We had the pleasure of getting to spend time with Taelyn's best bud, Vincent.  Taelyn and Vincent met when they were around 6-8 months old and used to spend every other day together at the daycare.  When the daycare closed, we got a nanny and Vincent went to a new place.  Taelyn was sad.  Luckily, he lives just around the corner, so we get to see him often.  This time, his dad dropped him off to play without his big brother, so Taelyn got quality Vincent time.  They had fun playing with the water table and getting Brie soaking wet!

Summer is here

I always think about making a post to my blog and then forget.  I get side-tracked with work, or laundry or life!  I am going to start scheduling time on my calendar each week just to take 15 mins to blog about what happened during the week - that is my goal at least!

The last post was 4 months ago- pretty ridiculous, I know.  There have been all kinds of things going on in the Martin household.  I think the biggest is that Brie finally started walking about a month ago!  We were so excited.  She is still pretty wobbly and prefers holding a hand when we are walking around outside in the grass, as it can be uneven and she has taken her share of falls.  Just a few scrapes and bumps, no broken bones or major accidents, thankfully.

What else?  Oh, swimming season has started up again and we are so thankful for our dear friends who live just up the hill that let us use their pool whenever we ask.  Taelyn is such a water bug and loves swimming.  I am trying to get her in swimming lessons this summer, but can't find any that are very convenient.  I may just have to break down and drive 20 mins to the state park pool every day for a week!  I was a lifeguard and taught lessons all though high school and college, but for some odd reason, she just has a hard time doing what I say!  She is very stubborn, just like her dad, so I am hopeful that a stranger might have more luck.  Also, it would be good for her to see other kids doing what I have told her to do!

We have been going to the lakehouse just about every other weekend and will actually be heading up this weekend for our annual Memorial weekend getaway with our neighbors.  We are always looking for folks to join us at the lakehouse, so if you want to come just invite yourself!

Birthday Girls!

We celebrated Taelyn's birthday last weekend with a fun party at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and then cake at Zilker park.  We had a great time competing in a scavenger hunt and then making our own bird sculptures!  It is so hard to believe Taelyn is already 3!  I want her to stop growing - I love this age!

Today is Brie's 1st birthday and to be honest we really haven't celebrated the day.  We were woken up early this morning by extremely loud thunder and lightning and then a huge crack!  We jumped out of bed to find that our neighbor's house had been struck by lightning and their roof was on fire and collasping before our eyes.  As soon as they heard the crack they jumped up and grabbed their two boys and ran out of the house.  Chad ended up busting through their second story ceiling and into their attic to put out the fire and ultimately save the house.  Thankfully everyone, including the cat and dog are fine and they are already working on cleaning up the house and getting back to normal life.  It has been a bit of an interesting day and with all the unexpected activity, we decided to just wait until Feb 11 when we are doing Brie's birthday party to celebrate.
